  • Lack of complicated editing
  • lesser known actors
  • Natural colour grading
  • Naturalistic settings
  • use of lesser known music and less emphasis on music
  • Lack of cgi and expensive effects
  • less commercial themes and plot
  • less exciting themes

There are many ways in which an independent company can be successful for example Warp films have produced a number of films that have gained critical acclaim.An example of this would be This is England as is it gained both commercial and critical success for tackling key issues whilst also bring a historically accurate film that challenges the audience and makes them think deeper into the film rather than to just be entertained like with a blockbuster Marvel film.Another way an independent company can gain success is through gathering a strong brand identity an example of this that applies to Warp records would be that there films have niche yet enthusiastic audience for example the audience for this is England is smaller than more popular films but they may be more enthusiastic as it may be more relatable to them such as people that live in England or grew up in the same time period as it is set may relate to the setting and themes.
